Work the other way. Count the space you actually have. A table at a weekend market holds maybe 150 to 250 pieces before it looks cluttered. A four-foot wall section in a shop holds a similar amount. An online store has no physical limit, but has a practical one: past about forty styles, customers stop browsing and start leaving.<\/p>\n

That capacity number, not your bank balance, is what you are buying against.<\/p>\n

Depth before breadth<\/h2>\n

The single most useful rule for a first order: fewer styles, more of each.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Six pieces of a style is the practical minimum. Below that, the display looks picked over from day one, and when they sell you cannot tell whether the style is a winner or whether six people happened to like it. Six sold from six tells you almost nothing. Six sold from twelve tells you to reorder.<\/p>\n

So a 180-piece market table is about 25 to 30 styles at six to eight pieces each. Not 90 styles at two.<\/p>\n

Using real wholesale prices across accessories, most categories average somewhere between $5.50 and $7 a unit. Hair accessories sit around $5.50, belts around $6, hats around $7, jewelry in the $5 to $9 band.<\/p>\n
